StormTeam10 Forecast

Jeff Haniewich

Hello!  We closed out the work week with some spotty showers and lots of cloud cover as a low pressure system marched closer to the region.  A Flood Watch is in effect for the entire viewing area through Saturday afternoon, with a Flood Warning in effect for the James River at Buchanan.  For tonight, rain is likely and the chance is there for a few storms too.  Fog may form if you are not under a thunderstorm, and it will be mild and muggy with lows in the upper 40s.  Heavier downpours are possible tonight into midday Saturday, with some areas seeing over 2” of rain.  Saturday looks rather overcast with the rain diminishing as we head into the afternoon.  It will be a seasonable day with highs near 60.  Please don’t forget to spring those clocks forward one hour Sunday at 2:00 a.m.  We may squeeze out a little more sun on Sunday, but the chance is still there for a few rain showers.  Temperatures will cool off a bit, topping out in the mid-to-upper 50s.  It is important to note that the weekend does NOT look like a washout.  Partly sunny skies are on tap on Monday with a stray shower possible in the mountains, otherwise it does look like a dry day.  Temperatures may fall to below normal readings for the first time in awhile, reaching the middle 50s.  High pressure will be back in control Tuesday through Friday, bringing the return of sunshine.  Both Tuesday and Wednesday look mainly sunny with highs in the upper 50s.  Both Wednesday and Thursday may see a few more clouds (more sun than cloud cover though!) with temperatures in the low-to-mid 60s.  Have a great weekend!
